League Of Legends – Where eSport And Cinematography Meet Each Other

Runeterra is a huge place. League of Legends players begged and pleaded for a cinematic adaptation, and Riot Games finally gave in. Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Riot Games works on a television and film series.

A computer game may be more than it seems at first glance. If you’ve never heard of esports before, the film does a good job of explaining the phenomenon that is League of Legends. Arcane: League of Legends is the name of the film/TV series based on the popular video game. There are certain eSports that may be more than just an eSport in this article.

League Of Legends As An eSport

In the multiplayer online battle arena video game League of Legends, esports is the professional competition. In 2009, Riot Games launched the initial version of the game. The 2021 Mid-Season Invitational was the most recent significant event.

League of Legends is one of the most popular esports, with a slew of events held annually throughout the globe. As of June 2016, League of Legends had a prize pool of $29,203,916 USD, 4,083 players, and 1,718 tournaments, whereas Dota 2 had a prize pool of $64,397,286 USD, 1,495 participants, and 613 events at the time.

More than $100,000 was given away during DreamHack 2011’s Season 1 World Championship, held in Sweden in June 2011. Defeating teams from Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia, the European squad Fnatic took home the tournament’s $50,000 grand prize. In one semi-final match, more than 210,000 concurrent people tuned in to watch the streaming broadcast. A total of $5,000,000 was promised by Riot for Season 2 after the conclusion of Season 1. In addition to the IPL and other well-known esports organizations, Riot planned to provide $2 million to its partners. Riot’s Season 2 qualifying and finals were set to get an additional $2 million. The remaining $1 million was allocated to League of Legends event organizers that submit applications to Riot.

The 2013 competition offered a $1 million grand prize and 32 million online spectators. The entire prize pool for the 2014 and 2015 tournaments was $2.3 million, making it one of the richest in esports history. Over $5 million was awarded in prize money during the 2016 World Championship, with the champion taking home over $2 million. As part of the 2016 event, “Fan contributions” were introduced; a percentage of sales from Riot’s shop prior to the tournament went toward raising prize money for the 16 participating teams.

The $5 million prize fund for the 2017 event, which was held in China, was likewise a significant increase. In 2017, Riot chose to use the proceeds from skin purchases to boost the prize pool once more. Ashe, the 2017 championship skin, sold successfully despite the original pool of $2 million and $250,000. The prize fund grew by 25% because of the selling of Championship Ashe and wards.

Samsung Galaxy defeated SK Telecom T1 3–0 at the Beijing National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) to claim the $1.8 million first-place award. Riot has the opportunity to surpass expectations once again in the 2018 World Championship, which was held in South Korea. The prize fund was increased by 12.5 percent of the sales of Championship Kha’Zix and wards by Riot. The remaining 12.5% of the prize money will be distributed equally among all the teams taking part in the competition. From last year’s prize pool of $5 million, this year’s prize pool has risen to over $6.5 million. At the Munhak Stadium in Incheon, Fnatic and Invictus Gaming met in the finals. The $2.4 million first-place prize fund was won by Invictus Gaming after a 3–0 rout of Fnatic.

Arcane: League Of Legends

As we’ve seen, League of Legends eSports has a large and loyal following, as well as a sizable prize pool. Arcane, Netflix’s most-watched television series in 2021, has the same level of appeal.

Arcane is a Netflix original series developed by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, dubbed Arcane: League of Legends on screen. Fortiche and Riot Games produced the game, which takes place in the League of Legends world and centers on twins Vi and Jinx. At the 2019 League of Legends’ 10th-anniversary celebration, the series was revealed, with the first episode airing in November 2021.

There has been a great deal of praise for the animation, the world-building, the character development, and the voice acting in Arcane’s first season.
